Search just books through your Chrome browser

Google Play Books is a free app for the Google Chrome web browser and Chromebook operating system that allows users to access their Google books from the dock or browser toolbar. Unlike the official Google Books webpage, the Google Play Books app is free from clutter and aims to create a user experience that emphasizes users and their books. Just like the official website, users can view and purchase books that can be saved to their desktop computer or stored in the cloud.

Access to thousands of books

Google Play Books is full of thousands of unique and interesting titles and that’s why it stands above the standard Google Play site as a source for viewing and reading your digital library. While the Google Play Store can become cluttered, especially since its shared with movies, televisions, apps, music and more, Google Play Books focuses on the literature and acts more as a bookstore than an online digital media store. Browse books of all kinds just the same, but never worry about search results for other content types bleeding into the books.

Streamlined and accessible

Unlike the Google Play Store, Google Books is simplified and easy-to-use, providing a clean and user-friendly interface that is not busy or cluttered. Users will be able to search easier and turn their attention to what they’re really looking for when they browse the extensive library or titles.

This program is Windows 11 compatible.

I'm having trouble buying. It says my card is declined, then it lets me buy an ebook. Then I go to buy another ebook, and my card is declined again.

Softonic

In Softonic we scan all the files hosted on our platform to assess and avoid any potential harm for your device. Our team performs checks each time a new file is uploaded and periodically reviews files to confirm or update their status. This comprehensive process allows us to set a status for any downloadable file as follows:

Clean

It’s extremely likely that this software program is clean.

What does this mean?

We have scanned the file and URLs associated with this software program in more than 50 of the world's leading antivirus services; no possible threat has been detected.

Warning

This software program is potentially malicious or may contain unwanted bundled software.

Why is the software program still available?

Based on our scan system, we have determined that these flags are possibly false positives.

What is a false positive?

It means a benign program is wrongfully flagged as malicious due to an overly broad detection signature or algorithm used in an antivirus program.

We’d like to highlight that from time to time, we may miss a potentially malicious software program. To continue promising you a malware-free catalog of programs and apps, our team has integrated a Report Software feature in every catalog page that loops your feedback back to us.

Flag any particular issues you may encounter and Softonic will address those concerns as soon as possible.
